Across Genderations

SAT, FEB 8, 2025
OAKWOOD SECONDARY CAMPUS

Join Oakwood students and community and an international lineup of activists and artists to kindle the flame of human rights and pass the torch across generations and the gender spectrum to light the way for lasting change. Featured speakers include Shabana Basij-Rasikh, founder of the School of Leadership Afghanistan (SOLA); Kathryn Hahn, acclaimed actor and advocate; María Pacheco, founder of Wakami Global; and Anna Deavere Smith, renowned performer and playwright of Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992.

The summit will offer dynamic breakout sessions on a wide range of topics, including the ongoing fight for reproductive justice; the rights and dignity of the trans community; the liberating potential of social entrepreneurship; the battle for girls’ education under the shadow of the Taliban; and women’s representation in traditionally male-dominated fields like finance and STEAM. The day will come alive with art installations, dance, and musical performances.

The Gender Justice Summit is presented in partnership with The Pad Project and The Oxford Consortium for Human Rights.
